Climate Change Assessment (CCA) and Climate Riske Assessement have evolved significantly from qualitative description and trend analysis of past records at a place. Future projection data are available with global coverage and the resolution of data is getting better. Much higher resolution data are available at regional and local scales over parts of the globe. What is more important is that the band of uncertainty of the projection is going down. At the same time, new climate phenomena are coming to light with increasing observations from the space and temperature rising at an alarming rate due to increase of the GHG emission.
Adaptation to climate change impacts has become significantly important as existing and new infrastructural systems, societal, agricultural and health systems face climatic elements of higher intensity and frequency.
At System2C, we use our mathematical and physical skills and insights to interpret historical climate data and future projections. We have learnt that adaptation must address direct impacts, however impact of the adaptation measures on the induced effects must also be carefully evaluated. The induced impacts of climate change and those introduced by the adaptation measures in most cases become evident in a somewhat longer time scale, but may result in significant harm to the population and the economy. System2C, therefore, believes in evaluating adaptation options and giving careful consideration to their effectiveness to both direct and induced impacts.
